    Default Tuning options

Hey fellas, I'm actually an evo x owner but my buddy just bought a 2.0t genesis and he wants me to tune his car. What options as far as opensource are out there? I use Ecuflash to flash for my car and evoscan to log. Is there anything out like that? Thanks.

No open source options for a reflash yet. Only reflash out now is from PowerAxel. To do any self tuning with it you have to be a Veocom/PowerAxel dealer. I believe it costs a couple thousand to get the software for it.

Dynojet has their CMD unit out now which will allow for a decent bit of tuning. Only fuel and boost currently but their timing module should be out in a couple of months. I picked up 40whp and 80ft/lbs with the CMD... It's still considered a piggy back but it does have direct control over injectors and boost solenoid so it's not skewing data being read by the ECU to make it's changes.

I've seen u on evoxforums.com welcome. For what ur looking to do cmd is ur best bet or wait until the haltech standalone comes out.

Haltech will probably be another 4-6 months according to John @ Protech. He said they could wire one in if you don't mind a couple of CELs so I'm sure other people/shops could as well.

Humm, really interesting. Thanks guys. Let me know if u guys hear anything else.

CMD seems like a waste of money for what it actually does and can do. Plus it's a piggy back...

if you just want a nice tune and not dig a big hole in your friends pocket i would go with road race nest stage power pro it gains 35 horse power and installs in about a min with 2 plugs. it definitely frees up alot of power and makes the car alot of fun to drive it sells for about 350 and its also not linked to one car . i have this and i can not see driving with out it
    -road race nspp
    -road race short ram intake
    -E&G chrome grill combo
    -6k hids
    -oem fog lights
-35% tint all around 2% on back window
    -black roof
    -led turn signals
    -led license plate lights
    -debadged with wing emblems
    -35% tinted windshield
    -lip spoiler

Also, the Haltech unit is also a "piggy back" in that it does not replace the stock ECU. This is because of the stock Electronic throttle control. The only way to tune all options is to go with a custom PowerAxle tune from an authorized dealer. It's a stock ECU reflash using software very similiar to the factory Hyundai tools. It's also, very expensive. $600+ for the handheld, plus dyno time.

As I mentioned in the Dynojet thread, the CMD has the most potential and can grow with some mild upgrades. Injectors, FMIC, Turbo Back Exhaust, Intake are all acceptable with a CMD. Even some smaller turbo upgrades, like a GT30, GT35 series turbos can be managed with the CMD. Unless you plan on building the engine from the ground up, the CMD is the best option out there right now.
